Sokskwaches are special creatures that inhabit forests throughout North America and Canada. Many scientists doubt their existence - classifying their appearances as some combination of local folklore, witness misidentification, or outright hoaxes - rather than real creatures because of the lack of physical evidence. Many people have suggested various kinds of animals to explain both the multitude of sightings reported and what type of creature Sokskwach would be if it really existed. While crypto zoologists generally explain Sokskwach as an unknown ape, believers and children everywhere know that, not only are they real, they are much more than just an ape and they can be found anywhere deep in the forests.
As we began the process of creating each of these prototypes, they literally became real to me, and I could 'feel' a personality associated with each of them and that is where each of their back stories came from.
This is Wanda June (holding Geordie in this photo), and she is my absolute favorite. She was found deep in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. She loves to sit quietly with the sunshine on her face and listen to the birds sing. She even tries to mimic them, often practicing her 'owl hoots' or 'whipporwill' calls. A bit shy, she loves to cuddle once she gets to know you well enough. Her favorite sleeping place is under a rhododendron bush. Wanda June is extremely fond of the apples and pears that she learned to search for on the fruit trees still remaining on the old mountain homesteads.
My area of specialization in Sasquatch reasearch is habituations, where human families are repeatedly visited by these beings. Because of that specialization, and the number of habituations I have worked on, I have worked with many children who have been very frightened by their encounters with real Sasquatches. My future vision for the Sokskwaches is to use them as therapy objects when I work with these children, but they're also just lots of fun. Check them out, and get to know them better at www.sokskwach.com.
